Jo Ann Ewalt

Professor, Director of the University of Charleston MPA Program

Jo Ann EwaltJo Ann Ewalt directs the Master of Public Administration program at the University of Charleston, South Carolina (a newly formed unit within the College of Charleston). She is a Professor of Public Administration at the College of Charleston, and teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in research methods, public policy, and program evaluation. Her research includes peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters analyzing the development and implementation of social safety net programs such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Dr. Ewalt also works with government agencies and nonprofit organizations in the community on research, strategic planning, program evaluation, and needs assessment projects. She is the immediate Past President of the Southeastern Conference for Public Administration, a member of the Executive Council of the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration, and Co-chair of the Commission on Peer Review and Accreditation. The Commission is the national accrediting institution for all master’s-level programs in public policy, public affairs, and public administration in the United States
